How it was designed
Designed with buildcad's AI agent, checked by the buildcad team. This is the request it started from and an edited account of what it did (more on how text to CAD works).
The request
An IKEA Skadis holder for screwdrivers: a shelf with 6 holes of 12 mm diameter, mounts in the Skadis slots.
- 1
It looked up the Skadis grid
The agent searched for the board's sizes and found only third-party sources, since IKEA publishes no drawing: slots 5 x 15 mm, 40 mm apart in a row and in a column, and a board 5 mm thick (plus or minus 0.2 mm). One maker had measured about 5.2 x 15.2 mm slots on real boards.
- 2
Checks, then the first build
It set out to check 6 holes of 12 mm, 4.6 mm wide hooks 40 mm apart and a 5.3 mm gap for the board. The first build was one valid body, 70 x 58.3 x 37 mm, with six 12 mm holes. Probes across the hooks found tabs from 2.7 to 7.3 mm (4.6 mm wide) and 40 mm apart.
- 3
The slider sweep broke it
Rebuilding every slider extreme, the agent found that a 30 mm hole diameter cut the holder into 3 bodies: at 24 mm spacing the holes overlapped. It made the spacing grow to at least the hole diameter plus a 4 mm wall.
- 4
All 20 extremes clean
The next sweep rebuilt all 20 slider extremes as one valid body each, and the default part did not change.
- 5
What it left to the maker
Its reply says the holder was not test-printed and asks for a fit test of one hook first. It also notes the second hook row needs supports and that 12.2 mm holes help if the shafts are tight.
One run of the agent: 3 min 30 s, about $0.44 of model time at list price (claude-sonnet-5-5). The model code behind this page is the code it wrote, unchanged.
